Today marks 25 years to the day since ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Leicester (ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø) first came into existence.
In June 1992, Erasure were top of the UK charts, Disney’s Aladdin was the year’s box office smash, the first ever Premier League season was about to kick off and in the East Midlands, Leicester Polytechnic was about to evolve into ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø.

Under Prime Minister John Major, the 1992 Further and Higher Education Act had changed the way education was funded, allowing 35 polytechnics to become universities - one of those being ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø.

On the morning of 26 June 1992, Leicester Polytechnic officially became ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø. It was the start of decades of development, as ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø grew into the university it is today.
